Oak Island & British Templars

I watched, stunned tonight, as the latest installment of the Curse of Oak Island aired in the USA at 9 pm Pacific Time.  Was anyone else seeing what I had?
Researcher Doug Crowell traced the history of the name that appears roughly scrawled, in the right hand upper corner of the Zena Halpern map, which appeared in the Curse of Oak Island on November 22 2016.
Zena Halpern Map
‘Rouchefoucauld’ is an ancient medieval family of lords, barons, dukes, princes and also comtes.  The French noble line has ties to the Holy Land, the Templars and of course Nova Scotia, Oak Island!
Rick Lagina, his nephew and friend, flew to  France to meet the ancestress of the noble family in a fabulous castle no less.  Certainly all the ingredients of a great work of fiction, but this is quite real.
After corroborating Templar familial links with the grand lady of the Rouchefoucauld family castle, the cast met with a Mr. Jerry Glover, a Templar historian at Domme castle, an infamous prison.
The Lagina party were given a tour of Domme castle where many Templars were imprisoned in 1307 through 1314.  Of great import were many graffiti marks which grabbed my attention and is the main reason for this rather hurried blog.
There were two main connections from Domme and my own research; a photograph I’d taken a few years ago and also a correlation to a British Templar location.
The graffiti marks of Domme prison castle were of similar design and execution to that of Royston Caves in England!
I would like to suggest that the graffiti of Domme Castle was cut by a hand that had visited Royston in England.  Astonishing that the images cut into the soft chalk walls of the cave in England are sympathetic for those of Domme Castle.  The images are highly stylized with similar naive tendancies.
I visited Royston and took many photos, I’ve chosen a few below to share with you.  In comparison, please see my, rather dreadful photos off the tv from the History Chanels airing of O.I. Season 5 Episode 9 on January 2, 2018.

Royston is an underground bell shaped cave at the crossroads of Royston England.  Lost for centuries until it was rediscovered in the mid 18th century.  The carvings resemble a dense forest of closely packed Biblical stories, some very well executed and others quite clumsy.  Replete with Templar symbols and the ever present sword.

The French and English Templars were not strangers to each other and would find their posts in either kingdom.  Traveling to brother preceptories was expected.  I have not seen this particular style of carving at Domme, elsewhere, and believe the resemblance is too strong not to be connected with Royston.

Perhaps as an aside, but still of interest to myself…  I was a bit non-plussed to hear the theories regarding the carvings at Domme Castle.  I am 98% certain that the graffiti was carved using knives and not teeth which was the suggestion by prior historians.
I would be surprised that a stonemason of today would endorse the idea that imprisoned Templars used their teeth to carve sacred images and codes.
The castle was built out of hard stone after all and it would have been a messy, impossible business to force a carving out of the wall with ones face pressed against it, causing painful damage to ones teeth.  Unless the poor soul had his teeth pulled and handed back?  Gruesome indeed.  However the carvings are too complex for a small and brittle instrument such as a tooth.
It appeared from Mr. Jerry Glover’s demeanor that he doubted the tooth theory as well, as he shrugged his shoulders while explaining the carving by teeth theory to the Lagina party.
Certainly, the Templar prisoners lived in dreadful conditions, but as noble sons, higher ranking knights may have been afforded a few meagre privileges?
I theorize short knives were given to the higher ranking knights by their captors, as a curtesy.  Prisoner graffiti by knife is common in Europe.

The Templars valued wisdom and would speak with anyone who would share their knowledge.  This was a dangerous way to operate in the Middle Ages when it was popular to persecute anyone of a different faith in Europe.  The following image is one of many from the Domme Castle prison.  It is a depiction of the Cabalistic tree of life.  The carving is not the only evedence of shared Judaic knowledge having been adopted into Templar mysticism, but it certainly confirms it.
During the episode the team over-layed the Tree of Live over the Domme graffiti:
Other researchers of the Oak Island mystery have suggested that the Nolan Cross is a Tree of Life:
The Nolan Cross on Oak Island is comprised of large dome shaped boulders which have been moved into place and carved to resemble bee hives.  The central stone is carved into the shape of a skull.

This striking image of the Domme graffiti reminded me sharply of the St. Martin Tower graffiti in the Tower of London, possibly carved by the last Grand Master of England, William de la More.

On page 113 of The Secret Dossier of a Knight Templar of the Sangreal, I have what may be the only photograph of the St Martin Tower graffiti from the Tower of London complex.  I took the photo during high tourist season, paid my entry fee and dashed to the St. Martin Tower, past the huge lines waiting to see the Crown Jewels.

The following is a video that I had not intended to release to the public in its current form nor have had time to edit down for this blog.  It was a greeting and informational exchange for author Zena Halpern, outlining my own research which I believe connects with her own.  A video was the easiest way of explaining some of the issues around the above carving.  The video brings in other elements around the carving of St Martin Tower and my Templar contact who is descended from the Medici family.  I’ve chosen to post the video here after having viewed tonights episode of O.I.

My own photo is hauntingly similar, as if the two prisoners, one in castle Domme and the other in the Tower of London, had complimentary and dangerous knowledge.
I believe the graffiti mark from St Martin Tower depicts the Chi Rho, an early symbol of Christianity prior to the use of the Latin cross.  Though not a tree of life image in itself, it is a sacred, alchemical and magical emblem which I will describe in greater length another time.

The left hand image is from the ever handy Wiki and the photo on the right is my own.
I’d like to point out that the two carvings, though separated by kingdoms and prison cells have sympathetic qualities of style, using the image of the sword as a cross and also a way to depict knowledge in geometric form.
The indents which resemble the point of a knife or sword, are based in medieval codes, possibly Cistercian and were eventually adopted by the Medici in their shield. The ‘pellets’ are not just decorative but have meaning.  The Domme carvings have plain indents but also small crossed indents on their Tree of Life.

The Medici shield and its mysterious ‘balls’ which I believe are reverse ‘pellets’. Please see the video for further explanation.
It is near to 3 am now and this tired author must draw a line under this post.  I will be following up soon with more around the topics raised above.  Until then, I hope you’ve had a wonderful and happy Holiday Season.

  1. Hi Gretchen , just watched your video. Hope you are well and had a lovely holiday with ur family.I read something on internet that Roger Bacon was an elite person who had several lives starting from St Germain of the violet flame in France and Roger Bacon was included in his list of eminent people who he was at different times. I.e. he never died or was a time traveller. x Margaret

      1. Thank you for your time and comments, Janine – I hope you enjoy the book, there is more to come over the winter –

  2. Would you know on the cross and on the tree of Life , found on the walls of Domme Castle prison Why there slashes under left side of each diagram ….Thank you

    1. The slashes under the left arm of Christ are obscured… I would imagine that it is possible they number the same as on the left of the Tree of Life?

The number seven. Grouped as a four and three. The Seventh Sefiort of the Tree of Life equates to Eternity or Netzach. Three is equal to ‘Understanding’ or Binah and four is equal to ‘Kindness’ or Chesed. The Templars adopted the energy system of the human body as taught by the Judaic priesthood through the Kabbalah. Visualised by a tree of ten centers and twenty two pathways, the basis of the tarot deck which became the 52 deck of playing cards we are used to today.

In this context, the tradition which was wedded into the Templar stream of knowledge from Jesus, their inspiration and ancestor-king, will live for eternity. That ‘Kindness’ and ‘Understanding’ are being evoked as well, is nothing short of sainthood, on behalf of the tortured and imprisoned Templar Knight who carved out the graffitit at Domme castle.

  3. I’m curious if I’m related to Jerry Glover. I’d enjoy communicating with him to ask him if he knows. I’ve not researched to know but thought he might have knowledge on this possibility.

  4. You may like to check out the graffiti in the dungeons of Newark Castle and Lincoln Castle in England. Templars were held in both places prior to being taken for trial. At Newark castle, the Templars were allowed some freedoms, having given their word to not escape. They were allowed to keep some of their weapons it seems, so able to produce the interesting wall art. Nearby Temple Bruer retains a tower from the original preptory buildings, this also has similar graffiti.

    1. Thank you Stuart, for recommending these preceptories… I’ve not been to these locations yet, but have others… It is always moving to be at an ancient Templar site. Best wishes –

  5. At the bottom of the map is written, ” le lionceau de Talmont”. This title appears to be related to Richard the Lionheart, which is also related to the crusades and the Templars.

    1. Yes, Richard did own the castle and was a Templar ‘Lay-Brother’ however if you take into consideration the year on Zena’s map of 1347, Lord Louis Thouars is also a ‘Lion’ as noted by his Helm. He owned the castle and survived the Battle of Poitiers in 1356, though the French lost to the English. This does not exclude Richard but the date points to Louis Thouars. I cover this extensively in my new book. It is out in Kindle right now but the paperback and hardback are following soon.

  6. 1347 was the year that the Black Death emerged throughout Europe. Could the outbreak of plague have persuaded the Templar’s tinup sticks an to safer shores
