Moments of Grace: Gathering Pearls as We Enter the New Year

Happy New Year 2026

As we stand at the threshold of a new year, many of us find ourselves reflecting on what has been, while wondering what lies ahead. It is a natural moment of reckoning. Of hope. Of weariness. Of quiet courage.

Neuroscience has shown us something both simple and profound: what we focus on quite literally shapes the brain. Our attention carves pathways. Repeated thoughts deepen grooves. Over time, those grooves influence how we experience the world, how we respond to challenge, and how resilient we feel when life becomes difficult.

And many lives are difficult right now in ways that never appear online.

Yet even in the midst of challenge, moments of grace still arrive. They are not always dramatic or obvious. Often, they are small and fleeting. A smile from a stranger. A kind word dropped unexpectedly into Messenger. The sound of birdsong in a park. The warmth of your radiator. The relief that your car starts when you need it to. Sometimes it is a sudden moment of inspiration or comfort that feels as though it has come from somewhere beyond us: the memory of a loved one, the presence of a guardian spirit, or simply the unseen goodwill that connects us all.

When the weight of the past year feels heavy, it can help to pause. Look around. Place a hand on your heart. Ask yourself gently: Was there a moment yesterday, or today, that was a gift? Something that sustained you, even briefly. Five seconds. Seven seconds. Nine seconds. These moments matter more than we realize.

I often think of them as pearls.

Many of us share our work and our lives publicly not only to communicate, but to affirm what we wish to grow. To consciously deepen positive grooves within ourselves. All creation begins in the higher creative mind. Nothing on the physical plane moves without spirit behind it. Intention precedes the physical.

If you are feeling low or overwhelmed, a small outward gesture can sometimes shift something inward. Buy a flower and leave it on a park bench. Place a book (in a plastic bag) you no longer need somewhere, with a note that says, I enjoyed this. I hope you do too. These acts are not about fixing the world. They are reminders that we are here to participate in it with kindness. To perpetuate Light.

For those living with physical illness or disability, sometimes the triumph is simply making it through another day. That, too, is a victory. If you have made it around the sun one more time, you have succeeded. That strength deserves recognition.

And if your triumph right now is simply digging in your heels, baring your teeth, raising your sword and saying, I will get through this, then you have already won.

Moments of grace can be gathered and strung together, pearl by pearl. Guard them closely. Every moment you consciously appreciate becomes a sacred resource for the next moment, and the next. These are your treasures.

I want to thank my patrons, dear friends, and family for walking alongside me this past year. It has been a year of deep work, long hours, heady heights, and difficult lows. But the work of tilling the fields does bear fruit, even when progress feels slow or unseen.

May peace be in your household.
May moments of grace sustain you and multiply as we move into 2026.
And may you remember, again and again, that simply continuing is often the bravest act of all.

Happy New Year to you and yours,

Love Gretchen
