I am a descendant of a Robert Culliford (See Encombe House, Corfe Castle, Shaftsbury Abby), related to the Earl of Clarendon who was 1 of 8 Lord Proprietors given the Charter from King Charles II of the land, Carolina Chaarter. This Charter was given as a tribute for their help in getting Charles II re-throwned.
All of our Cullifords were christened, married and buried at Corfe Castle. They go back to before William III and many were MPs, financial advisors, and Customs officials – exchecquors.
